Things to do in Tenerife – Events around the Island
This notice may be a bit early as generally I try to run in chronological order and this event does not take place until September, but I would like as many people as possible to hear and attend as it is the culmination of hard work from several members of our local community.
21st – 29th September TEN DIEZ – Magma Centre, Las Americas combines photography from some of Tenerife’s most creative individuals, Live Music and Short-films from 20 local and world renowned video & cinematographers. 3rd Wine Tasting ”Taste of Summer” which will take place from 10.00 to 14.00 for the Farmers Market on the street and from 18.00 to 24.00 for restaurants, bars and cellars in the Plaza, El Medano.
4th An adventure named Garachico - The historic town becomes the stage on which actors re-enact events of the history of this magical place. Garachico was the main port of Tenerife, until the volcanic eruption of 1706, the theme for the current performance is “Glorified in adversity”. Information : 922 133 461 – citgara@hotmail.com

Regional Gastronomy Meetings Enjoy the cuisine of Tenerife, prepared with regional products and accompanied by local wines. The municipalities of the island and “Saborea Tenerife” are organizing “Muestras Gastronómicas Locales de Tenerife”, aimed at creating a way for the tourist to get to know the local cuisine.

11th – 12th Perseid Meteor Shower, Teide National Park undeniably one of the greatest natural wonders in the universe. The annual spectacle brings a dazzling light show with more than 60 shooting stars zipping across the sky every hour. Although visible elsewhere, Tenerife offers perfect conditions for star spotting, especially at Mount Teide, where there is low light pollution and extraordinarily clear dark skies.

22nd - 1 Sept Bavarian Week 39 - Outdoor Concert Streets of Puerto de la Cruz
To 25th Sansofe 2012 - The South’s cultural summer. There will be two months, July and August, where you can enjoy a varied program in El Medano and Los Abrigos. Events include Folk Show, PWA World Windsurfing Championships, Festival of New Talent, the Concierto de Macaco, Granadilla Fotográficafest, summer food festivals and various sports and games. These are just a sample of what awaits on the south coast this summer. The programme is HERE and while it is in Spanish it is quite easy to follow dates, times and places so you should be able to find plenty to do.

31st Aug – 2nd Sept XXVII Pinolere Craft Fair, Ethnological Museum La Orotava - Shoemakers, tanners and leather artisans from the Canary Islands gather for the theme ‘Leather in the Canary Islands’. 10:00 to 21:00.
