I went with a friend to measure up for new curtains for a rental apartment owned by a mutual friend on the Tenerife Royal Gardens complex. I had not been onto the complex before, although I did know its location could not be bettered. It is a stride away from the beach and directly opposite the Mare Nostrum in the up market area of Playa de las Americas. As many people know this is ex-timeshare, and was associated with John Palmer. I don’t know whether he just had an interest in it or was the builder but from what I saw, it is a beautiful development
We met our friend at the imposing entrance and walked through reception. In its heyday, this had a number of shops that at the moment are closed, however they really are not needed, as there are shops and restaurants immediately outside of the complex, so lots of things to do in Tenerife right on the doorstep.
We wandered across the terrace and the decorative bridge-walk where staff offer relaxing massages for a few Euros.
Golden bodies glistened in the sun as they relaxed around the swimming pools with plenty of room for everyone and no sign of the morning rush to grab a sun bed. There were plenty of loungers dotted around and unlike some complexes; there is no charge to use these. Although at the time of our visit, school holidays and height of summer, there were few children around and the impression I got was this complex is ideal for adults wanting to relax throughout the day but being close enough to some of the best restaurants, bars and entertainment in the area.
The apartment we went to is at ground level and has been recently refurbished. New bathroom, kitchen, flat screen TVs in each room and air conditioning. The curtains are the last job to be completed, with a request for pretty voiles to hide the practicality of thermal sunscreen curtains that are required to keep out the daylong sun that streams into the one bed apartment that comfortably sleeps four people.
Although I had not initially intended to mention it, as usual I had my camera and could not resist taking some snaps. Unlike many holiday lets, this is a touristic complex so there are no legal problems and it has the required management company on-site. I believe the contact is called Roberto, although if anyone was interested in this particular apartment I can pass on contact details regarding the apartment number to ensure the rental company can check specific availability and you don´t end up elsewhere.
Our quick measuring up job ended up as a pleasant 3 hours in this lovely spot where I am sure many tourists would love to spend their holidays.
