It has been a little while since I mentioned my friends Whiskey and the Traveller Blues Band. But like all good musicians every free moment they have they spend rehearsing and doing regular gigs, sadly for me mainly in the west of the island which means a journey.
Of course perfecting their craft pays off and they are Numero Uno here on the island when you check the musicians’ bible ReverbNation, however they are also number 16 on the ReverbNation Global Blues charts a massive climb of 3 places in a week.
Their latest booking will also mean a journey for OH and me, this time to Santa Cruz. They have been invited to play alongside Alex Altamirano & The Purple Band on 25th April at Teatro Guimerá.
For anyone who is not familiar with this power trio their music is based on the Blues / Rock sounds of the 60s and 70s. In 2009 Alex, Fran and Carlos joined forces with “The Purple Experience”, a tribute band to the legendary Jimi Hendrix and since then have continued to become one of the most highly respected bands around not only for their musicianship but also their professional approach to every show the give.
If you like good music I would encourage you to get down to the Espacio Guimerá Música on the 25th. For a taste of what you are likely to hear download a few of Travellers tracks from the link above, I particularly like the acoustic versions, of many old favourites that take on a new life. You will also be doing these children in the Dominican Republic a power of good as Traveller are donating their fee to another needy cause.
Well done Whiskey and Traveller I have followed you from the beginning and feel that this like the Clapton song of the blogs title is going to take you ‘Further On Up The Road’ . I wish you all the very best of luck, you deserve it.
