The rain started and has fallen steadily, uniformly and with confidence for the past hour and as I write the water is dripping from the leaves in the garden. I don’t mind, in fact I enjoy the rain because it is so rare for us in this part of Tenerife. I know that when the sky begins to clear the air will become pure and the earth feel cleansed.
Even in somewhere that looks as arid as our little park once the rain has gone new buds appear and flowers start to bloom and the caked earth springs to life with pretty grasses.
Ah, the cleansing, satisfying, cooling rain that is full of the promise of summer…
I wrote the above on 24th March and since then the flowers have bloomed.
