Have you made your list and checked it twice?
Christmas — so much fun and so much stress.
Have you managed to find the right present for each of your friends and family? I hadn’t either, but just as I was starting to wind myself up into a state of mild panic, I found some typically Canarian ideas that could suit. So full credit to Google for both ideas and images because now I can breathe a little easier.
Leather goods whether you buy them from a designer shop or the local market make great gifts, they are generally of good quality and value for money, and whether you choose a keyring, purse or handbag there is usually something to suit everyone.
Sticking to the market there are treasures to be found at Market Our Lady of Africa “La Recova” which is open every day.
In the main market there is a huge choice from jamon Ibérico one of the finest hams in the world, to honey, spices, Tenerife olive oil, and homemade mojos. These all make impressive presents for a die-hard foodie.
In the Mall and La Rambla Azul, whether you are looking for a Barca or Real Madrid football kit or a Spanish flamenco costume perfect for the child that likes dressing up you will find them here. They are great gifts for the kids and could get them hooked on Spain!
Could there possibly be a more welcoming gift than wine? Whether you are looking for red, white, rose or cava, hands-down the place to go in Tenerife, has to be Prestigio y Tradicion they have the best selection at the best prices.
Turrón may just be the perfect Christmas gift. It is easy to wrap and just shouts Canarian Christmas meaning its authenticity factor is through the roof. Every supermarket on the island is stocked to the brim right now the only hard thing about it is choosing which flavour as it comes in more varieties than I can count.
Christmas might not seem like the ideal time to give someone a Spanish fan, (abanico), but with the amount of working going on in the kitchen at this time of year, there’s bound to be someone who could do with some cooling down.
So with the Christmas Gift List complete, it is time for some retail therapy, then relax and enjoy the holiday season.
