What to Expect
June and summer hits the island. The weather is sunny and warm wherever you are although in the Orotava Valley you may experience the odd panza del burro (belly of the donkey) a sea of clouds, but these usually disappear by lunchtime. Average shade temperatures for the south last June were 28-19°C while in the north 23-14°C and although slightly less still not too shabby.
Flower Carpets and Corpus Christi – The celebration involves making carpets out of flowers, salt and shrubs and laying them all around the streets near the town hall square. The main carpet usually takes up the entire surface of the square and is made using different coloured volcanic sand, which is brought straight from the Teide National Park. The Tinerfeña Federation of Bands begins its Spring Musical concert program. Like previous years, every Sunday to June 18 at 11.30 in the Chamber Hall, Auditorio de Santa Cruz free entrance until full capacity.

The Tenerife Bluetrail Mountain Race, billed as the highest race in Spain and the second highest in Europe, and certainly one of the most gruelling events around. Some 2,700 runners from 33 countries will run up, over, and around Mt Teide.
